No formal drug interaction studies completed; however, the following drugs are known to inter-act with amphotericin B.
Drug-drug. Antineoplastics: Enhanced renal tox-icity, bronchospasm, hypotension. Use together cautiously.
Cardiac glycosides: Enhanced potassium ex-cretion; increases risk of digitalis toxicity.Use to-gether cautiously.
Corticosteroids: Enhanced potassium depletion; could predispose patient to cardiac dysfunction. Monitor patient.
Cyclosporine, tacrolimus: Possibly increased serum creatinine levels. Monitor creatinine levels.
Flucytosine: May cause synergistic effect and in-creased toxicity of flucytosine. Monitor patient carefully.
Imidazoles (clotiimazole, fluconazole, keto-conazole, miconazole). May cause antagonistic effects, although significance isnt determined. Use together cautiously.
Nephrotoxic drugs (such as aminoglycosides, pentamidine): May enhance renal toxicity. Moni-tor renal function closely.
Skeletal muscle relaxants such as tubocurarine: Amphotericin B-induced hypokalemia may en-hance effects of skeletal muscle relaxants. Mon-itor serum potassium levels closely. |
